The need for blast protection became evident during World War II and subsequent conflicts, where traditional vehicle seating proved inadequate against landmine threats. Early designs focused on increasing vehicle armor but lacked occupant-specific solutions. By the late 20th century, advancements in engineering enabled the development of energy-absorbing materials and mechanisms specifically for seating systems.en_US
